Being a trained TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) educator, it has always been emphasized that both content and language objectives should be posted on the board in kid-friendly language. But, regardless of your student population, posting the content objective is just a great teaching strategy.
For the past 6 years, I've been using my trusty laminated sentence strips and vis-a-vis markers to conveniently and effortlessly post my content objectives. However...I've decided that on my summer to do list, I am going to revamp these overused puppies. {Look at how they are curling up, sun-bleached, and the kids always asked what a SW-BAT was!?! Hence the use of white strips and the term, "I will be able to} :)
Here are some downloadable pieces for you to do the same. Plus, with the new CCSS (Common Core State Standards) upon some of us next year, I also thought it convenient and administrator-pleasing to create an area to list the standard.
Make a set for each subject {even a couple extra}, laminate, and use a vis-a-vis marker to write your daily objectives. When needing to change an objective, just use a dampened paper towel to clear the strip. Clipart by Scrappin Doodles.

We must also post our objectives. Our school purchased large, laminated posters that say "I can ______." We just fill in the objectives we will work on each day/week in each subject area. I change mine weekly since it seems like first graders work on things for a longer period of time. It's super simple and I like that it uses child friendly language.

I enjoy sharing my resources with other teachers, knowing I will play a small part in many children's education. Hope your year is off to a great start. I know that we have a lot of new things on our plate right now. Common Core, Curriculum Engine, new report card, and IDMS assessments!!
