Game Day!!

On the last day of school, students attend for just a half-day. The first part of the day, students help clean desks and chairs, stack small furniture, sort and organize textbooks, and pack up their belongings.

After all of our chores are done, we have a large, open area. To celebrate our last day of school together, we have a game day!!  I send home a note requesting that students bring in a puzzle, card game, or board game to share. I also allow the students to bring in their slippers (only to wear in class) and a stuffed animal.

Students love sprawling out and playing their games with a partner or small group. Some of the games are for the whole group to play including the teacher!! I love this last day of school because it’s a great way to spend time with those I’ve come to love and will miss dearly. Here’s a note for you to use to host your own game day! I love this idea. Thank you! Looking for math and reading websites. I am putting together a sheet to give parents for the summer. If you have any great websites / links please leave a comment at my blog and I will be posting the sheet with them all. Thanks
